 Lawson’s Locker started with a simple question from a 6th grader: What if the only thing keeping a student from participating was not having the gear?

Founder Lawson Watt grew up with early access to team sports—he was on the ice and the soccer field before he turned three. Over the years, he saw firsthand how teamwork can build confidence, friendships, and focus.

When he saw students being left out because they couldn’t afford equipment or didn't have the right shoes he knew he had to do something. That’s when Lawson’s Locker was born, with the goal of expanding access for every kid, no matter their background or zip code.

  Lawson’s Locker is a youth-led community project that collects and donates new and gently used sports gear — including cleats, sneakers, uniforms, and equipment — to kids across Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C.

We believe every kid deserves a shot to play, no matter their financial situation. Through monthly gear drives, local pickups, and teamwork with awesome community partners, Lawson’s Locker breaks down barriers- one pair of cleats at a time.

Because teamwork and talent is everywhere. Access should be too.

Our mission is to break down financial barriers and open doors for every child. We’re proud to support the goal of raising national youth sports participation to 63% by 2030, in alignment with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Healthy People initiative.
